    Same year doesn't mean same size. An iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Air and 17 Pro Max are four different bodies with four different camera layouts. A case made for one will not fit the others, even though the names look almost identical.
    Buying for someone else? If you can't get to their phone, the model is printed on the original box, or on the receipt from their carrier or the Apple Store.
